Research Related to DECAL’s Child Care Services Division

Georgia Child Care Licensing Study: Validating the Core Rule Differential Monitoring System by Dr. Richard Fiene. This study examines Georgia’s current system for determining if a child care facility is compliant with Georgia’s child care licensing rules and regulations. Child care compliance is important because compliance with Georgia’s child care licensing rules and regulations is the first criterion in eligibility for many of the programs administered by DECAL.

An Assessment of the Risk of Preventable Deaths among Children in Child Care in Georgia by Dr. John Carter. This study assesses the risk of preventable deaths among children in Georgia’s child care facilities.

Infant and Child Injuries in Georgia: A Study Comparing Injuries in Child Care Facilities with Infant and Child Injuries in the General Population by Dr. John Carter. This study compares injuries that occur in child care facilities with injuries that occur in similarly aged children in the general population.

Georgia Child Care Licensing and Monitoring Study by Donna Bryant and Kelly Maxwell. This study examines the processes used by DECAL to license and monitor child care facilities in Georgia to identify and correct inefficiencies.
