National CACFP Week is March 15-21, 2026
What is National CACFP Week?
National CACFP Week is a national education and information campaign sponsored annually the third week of March by the National CACFP Sponsors Association. It is designed to raise awareness of how the USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) works to combat hunger.
We appreciate each of our CACFP operators for all the time, energy, and effort put into serving nourishing meals and snacks in your programs!

In partnership with Child Care Aware of America, Georgia State University, Voices for Georgia's Children, and Quality Care for Children, with guidance from DECAL, a map was created to illustrate child care programs’ participation in CACFP and highlights communities that could be considered for CACFP expansion. View the map here.
What is CACFP?
The CACFP is a federally funded program that provides reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks to children and adults in a day care environment. Providers include child care centers, day care homes, afterschool care programs, adult day care centers, and emergency shelters. CACFP contributes to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children and adults across the U.S.

Celebratory Activities for All Ages
-
Monday – C is for Community & Food Access
The CACFP Community ensures that children and senior adults have access to healthy foods and nutrition education.
-
Tuesday – A is for Adults
CACFP meals give adults the nutrition they need as a routine part of their day care program. CACFP reimbursements help to lower the cost of serving meals at centers that provide adult day care services to meet the needs of functionally impaired adults. Engage adults in the celebration with these daily activities.
-
Wednesday – C is for Children & Families
Children receive healthy and nutritious meals through the CACFP, making quality child care more accessible and affordable. Educate children and families about healthy eating and CACFP with fun activities and communication tools. Cooking activities and taste tests help children become adventurous eaters, while engaging in sensory exploration, practicing math skills, and more! -
Thursday – F is for Farm to CACFP
Farm to CACFP serves to connect CACFP settings to local food producers with the goals of serving locally-grown, healthy foods to children and adults, providing hands-on learning activities, integrating food-related education, and improving child nutrition.
Farm to CACFP activities can increase children’s willingness to try new foods, while also increasing connectedness and supporting a sense of purpose and activity in adults.
-
Friday – P is for Physical Activity
CACFP helps ensure our bodies are fueled up with healthy foods, and being active is just as important to keep us strong and healthy. Use our CACFP week activities to get moving, or try one of these ideas:
