What is Head Start?
Head Start is the early education and care program for low-income children ages three to mandatory school age and their families. It also offers social, emotional, health, mental health, dental, nutrition, and family services as well as special needs requirements to the families it serves.
What is Early Head Start?
Early Head Start is the early education and care program for low-income children for ages birth to three years old and their families. It also offers social, emotional, health, mental health, dental, nutrition, and family services as well as special needs requirements to the families it serves.
How much does Head Start charge for its services?
Head Start provides all the services a child needs to be successful for school at no charge for those who qualify for its services.
What dates are used to determine whether a child qualifies to participate in Head Start or Early Head Start?
Head Start uses the same date as the public school system when determining age eligibility fo either of its programs: September 1 of the current year. For example, if a child is two years old as of September 1 he or she is eligible to enter the Early Head Start program if a slot is available in their local program.
