The American Academy of Pediatrics has expanded its recommendations for safe sleep environments to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Sudden Unexpected Death Syndrome (SUIDS). DECAL supports the recommendations and proposes to revise the rules for safe sleeping requirements in Rules for Child Care Learning Centers (Chapter 591-1-1), Rules and Regulations for Group Day Care Homes (Chapter 290-2-1) and Rules and Regulations for Family Day Care Homes (Chapter 290-2-3).
